“Morning” is the time my daily prayer and devotion starts, usually about 4:30 am. The “Sword” comes from the following passage:

Ephesians 6:17 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”.

Prayer and scripture, the Word, is the message of MorningSword.
Many men have prayed and inspired my walk with Christ. The first was and continues to be my God: the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit. Next are my friends Sam Fritz, Bob Porter and Terry Hines. These saints are now in heaven.

MorningSword ministry started in 2012 on my “flip phone” as an opportunity to share my devotions with my wife and children. I added my biological brothers and sisters and my grandsons to this daily list. Then my pastors, and church staff. And then my advisory team and some friends.

A friend confronted me on a Sunday morning in 2015 about using my flip phone, because he could not respond with his smartphone to a passage I sent him. I replied “I am the son of a car dealer, and the flip phone still worked… As my Dad said ‘Use it, eat it, wear it, sell it, donate it’. Never waste anything”. Two days later, my flip phone stopped working…

James 5:16 ^“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

I listened to my friend and bought a smart phone. Consequently, I expanded the list of MorningSword recipients with more friends, coworkers, missionaries. And some other people.

Daily, I pray these words from scripture will bless and inspire you.
